This fabulous workshop will take place 10:30am-5:30pm May 23-25, 2020 (Memorial Day Weekend) at my home studio in Denver (location near Water World at 84th and Pecos). This workshop is intended primarily for experienced Ashtanga students and teachers. Highly recommended pre-requisite: 15-hr TIAVY intro training held January 31-Feb 2!
In addition to looking at the intricacies of tailoring hands-on assists for individuals with different attitudes, structures, assets and limitations, we will focus on trauma-informed considerations, including ways to elicit continuous ongoing informed consent and to foster a sense of safety and establish mutually beneficial relationships between students and teachers.
Although you will never be forced to volunteer or work with partners, partner exercises and group demos will be a large part of the learning. We will explore when it is best to use touch and when other methods of communication may be far superior. We will also focus on hearing the student’s experience of the assist in order to truly begin to understand how little we know about another person’s experience from our view outside of them.
Investment: $280 with an Early Bird of $250 if paid in full by January 8th (Jen-Mitsuke_Peters @ Venmo)
